Job Description
We’re currently looking for a Plant Manager to lead one of our quarry operations in the Greater Knoxville area. This role reports directly to the Area Production Manager and requires someone who puts safety first, leads by example, and takes initiative without needing to be micromanaged.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Leading the day-to-day operations of the quarry and overseeing a team of mine and plant employees.
- Making sure safety procedures are being followed consistently and effectively.
- Managing costs to stay within budget, while identifying ways to drive savings.
- Spotting areas for improvement and putting plans in place to make things better.
- Building a high-performing team through clear expectations, regular feedback, and hands-on training.
- Ensuring compliance with company policies and government regulations (MSHA, etc.).
- Overseeing pit and mine planning activities.
- Assisting with budgeting and forecasting efforts.
- Partnering with the Quality Control team to maintain high production standards.
- Engaging with and representing the operation in the local community.
- Experience in sand and gravel is a plus.
What We’re Looking For:
- A bachelor’s degree in mining or geological engineering—or a related field—is strongly preferred.
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience in quarry operations.
- A minimum of 3 years in a supervisory/leadership position.
- Solid understanding of profit & loss and basic accounting.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities—you know how to lead from the front.
- A track record of developing team leaders and foremen.
- Proven success in driving safety, quality, and operational best practices.
- Strong safety history, with knowledge of MSHA standards.
- Good with basic math, mapping, and surveying.
- Familiarity with environmental policies and compliance standards.
- Experience with AggQC and AggFlow is a bonus.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office and Windows-based systems.
