Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION OVERVIEW:

This position is responsible for the leadership, facilitation, analysis and documentation tasks necessary to articulate the business' vision and needs to technical stakeholders. It includes analyzing problems, establishing business cases and ROIs, identifying alternative solutions, recommending and implementing systems, and/or enhancements for problem resolution. Business Analysts within an IT context defines and elaborates solution requirements or participates in solution design with business stakeholders while maintaining a separation with technical design.

Required Knowledge and Skills

• Knowledge of:

a) Business Analysis principles and techniques.

  • Soliciting requirements from executives, management, and lower-level subject matter experts. 
  • Maintain/manage/track requirements throughout the implementation
  • Manage scope creep

b) Project Management principles and techniques.

c) System Development Lifecycle methodologies, processes and documentation.

d) Testing approaches and documentation; including plans and scripts for unit, integration, system, and regression testing and/or system validation

e) Cost estimation of a project from design, development, and testing to implementation, deployment and support for the required solution.

f) Training design and roll-out.

g) Key directional trends and emerging technologies in the IT industry.

h) Data report writing and dashboard tools and technologies.

i) Integration points with other platforms and third-party software.

j) Security in enterprise software.

k) English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.

l) Desktop and enterprise computer hardware and software applications.

• Technical Skills:

a) Researching, evaluating and analyzing business requirements and new computer system methods, applications, procedures, and techniques.

b) Analyzing problems, identifying alternative solutions, recommending and implementing systems, and/or enhancements for problem resolution.

c) Ability to analyze large data sets to identify effective ways of displaying information and support user decision making

d) Ability to utilize at least one SQL tool based on the most popular database platform (for example; Snowflake, MSSQL, Oracle, or MySQL)  

  • Ability to research data issues /entry in SQL database with mid-level SQL experience

e) Ability to create conceptual ERDs (for end-users)  

f) Ability to compile small to medium data sets to facilitate further analysis 

g) Detailed end-to-end business processes mapping, detailed workflow, and process drivers and metrics.

h) Utilizing project management tools and techniques to plan and ensure the progress and ultimate completion of designated projects; effectively managing time and resources to ensure that work is completed efficiently.

i) Implementing goals, objectives, and practices for efficient and cost-effective management of allocated resources.

j) Functioning within a group of managers and technical staff, and being able to influence without authority; interfacing professionally and effectively with all levels of personnel.

k) Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with others.

l) Communicating clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

m) Complies with company policies, practices and procedures, including safety rules and regulation.

• Understanding of / Exposure to:

a) Workday HCM implementation project

b) Understanding of data models, structures, theories, principles, and practices.

c) SQL Stored procedures / Table / View / Keys / Data Types

d) Dashboard and report development process

• Strategy and Planning:  

a) Identify and establish the scope and parameters in order to clearly define outcome/acceptance criteria 

b) Lead design sessions in prototyping 

c) Identify and communicate risk
