Job Description
The Tax Specialist ensures accurate and timely processing of property tax payments for a portfolio of loans across designated states. Reporting to the Property Tax & Insurance Tracking Team Lead, this role handles tax bill retrieval, payment processing, account updates, and correspondence with taxing authorities and customers. The specialist is responsible for meeting jurisdictional requirements and ensuring payments are properly documented and compliant.
Key Responsibilities
- Tax Payment Processing (60%):
- Process and submit tax payments on time.
- Retrieve bills from tax authority websites and verify projections.
- Ensure compliance with county-specific documentation.
- Update loan sequences, tax supplier details, and addresses.
- Research & Escrow Setup (15%):
- Set up new loans and confirm escrow calculations.
- Research property assessments and tax levies.
- Analyze tax suits and audit unregistered loans.
- Customer & Vendor Correspondence (10%):
- Respond to service requests and communicate with customers, vendors, and authorities via phone and email.
- Complete and submit required tax forms (e.g., assessments, payoffs, registrations).
- Account Management & Compliance (15%):
- Audit assigned loans and assist with internal reviews.
- Monitor tax tracking queue and resolve compliance issues.
- Stay current on policies and lending regulations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma required; college preferred.
- 0–2 years related experience.
- Basic computer and typing skills (25+ wpm).
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and communication.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work in a team environment
