Job Description
The accountant is responsible for performing day-to-day financial tasks, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting the month-end and year-end close processes. This role ensures compliance with internal policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements while providing timely and accurate financial information to management.
Key Responsibilities:
General Accounting
- Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts.
- Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation calculations.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.
Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable
- Process invoices, expense reports, and vendor payments.
- Monitor accounts payable aging and assist in vendor management.
- Prepare customer invoices and monitor accounts receivable aging.
- Assist with collections efforts when necessary.
Financial Reporting
- Prepare financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules.
- Assist with budget preparation and variance analysis.
- Compile data for audits and collaborate with external auditors.
Compliance & Process Improvement
- Maintain documentation and support internal controls.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 2–4 years of accounting experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP.
- Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in month-end close.
- Knowledge of payroll accounting is a plus.
