Job Description

What You’ll Do

  • Setup high-end simultaneous 5-axis CNC mills equipment (DMG Mori with Siemens 840D controls) to manufacture complex products with very tight tolerances to produce high quality parts in an aerospace environment, according to blueprints and engineering models.
  • Interpret (G-Code) programming, set up, and run 5-axis CNC mills.
  • Follow control and manufacturing plans established by Engineering for set-up and operations of projects.
  • Understand speeds & feeds with an ability to align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and accessories; including 3D quickset and probing.
  • Responsible for selecting and installing tooling into tool posts or indexing heads.
  • Observe numerical display on control panel and compare with data on print sheet to verify dimensional adjustments on machining cuts.
  • Run first piece and check for conformance to specifications, complying with inspection requirements outlined by the Quality Department.
  • Complete critical dimension sheets as required per project.
  • Responsible to ensure team members follow and maintaining 5S in work area and performing total preventative maintenance activities; responsible for area cleanliness per 5S standards.
  • Load and unload raw material or parts into machining centers.
  • May calculate complex and/or component angles and dimensions.
  • Will use digital measurement tools with an emphasis on dimensional accuracy and precision.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What We Are Looking For

  • Minimum of five (5) years of precision, complex machining experience on CNC mills; multi-axis experience preferred, simultaneous 5-axis experience strongly preferred, and preferred experience specifically on DMG Mori machines.
  • Extensive experience with maintaining tight tolerances (generally 2 tenths to 5 tenths, sometimes tighter), and to read and interpret blueprints and use required digital measuring instruments.
  • Strong preference for previous experience with Siemens 840D Controls.
  • Experience with basic shop math, and familiarity with GD&T.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • High School Diploma/GED.

Even Better

  • Associate’s degree from an accredited college or university, or two years of equivalent higher education strongly preferred; equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
  • Previous experience in a precision machine shop with CNC Mills/Lathes.
  • Previous experience in an AS9100 Environment strongly preferred.
  • Experience in achieving surface finish requirements per customer specifications.
