Job Description

The accountant is responsible for performing day-to-day financial tasks, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting the month-end and year-end close processes. This role ensures compliance with internal policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements while providing timely and accurate financial information to management.

Key Responsibilities:

General Accounting

  • Prepare journal entries and maintain the general ledger.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts.
  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Maintain fixed asset schedules and depreciation calculations.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies.

Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable

  • Process invoices, expense reports, and vendor payments.
  • Monitor accounts payable aging and assist in vendor management.
  • Prepare customer invoices and monitor accounts receivable aging.
  • Assist with collections efforts when necessary.

Financial Reporting

  • Prepare financial statements, management reports, and supporting schedules.
  • Assist with budget preparation and variance analysis.
  • Compile data for audits and collaborate with external auditors.

Compliance & Process Improvement

  • Maintain documentation and support internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 2–4 years of accounting experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in month-end close.
  • Knowledge of payroll accounting is a plus.
