Job Description
The Opportunity:
The person in this role will own sales from the ground up — building pipelines, chasing existing pipelines, developing relationships, and closing new consulting engagements across the SLED market. You will work directly with the Founder & CEO, with full visibility into the firm's strategy, clients, and opportunities. This is not a role for someone who needs a full SDR team, a marketing engine, and a brand name behind them to function. It is a role for someone who knows how the government buys, already has relationships worth calling on, and wants to own something real.
What You’ll Do:
● Build and manage a pipeline of new consulting opportunities in the SLED market — cities, counties, special districts, and state agencies
● Develop and maintain relationships with government buyers: CAOs, CFOs, CIOs, procurement officials, and department directors
● Represent Avèro at government technology conferences, association events, and procurement forums (ICMA, GFOA, NACo, and similar)
● Qualify inbound inquiries and convert referrals into active engagements ● Collaborate with the delivery team to drive growth, scope engagements and develop proposals 1 April 2026
● Provide market intelligence — what agencies are planning, what RFPs are coming, where the opportunities are
● Help shape how Avèro's business development and sales function is built — you're writing the playbook What We’re Looking For Required Qualifications
● 5+ years of quota-carrying sales experience in enterprise software, ERP, or technology consulting sold to state and local government
● Demonstrated track record closing deals in the SLED market — you know how government procurement actually works
● Existing relationships with government buyers who will take your call
● Consultative approach — you diagnose before you pitch
● Comfort operating independently, without heavy support infrastructure
● Willingness to travel for in-person relationship building Preferred Qualifications
● Background with Oracle NetSuite, SAP, Tyler Technologies, Workday, or similar government ERP platforms
● Familiarity with cooperative purchasing vehicles (NASPO, Sourcewell, OMNIA)
● Active participation in government professional associations
● Prior experience at a boutique firm, SI, or independent advisory — you understand the resource constraints and thrive anyway Compensation
Base Salary: of $80,000 – $95,000 — based on experience
