Exhaust Welder
About the Opportunity
Our client is a rapidly growing custom manufacturing company specializing in precision sheet metal fabrication, welding, machining, industrial coatings, and turnkey mechanical systems. They manufacture high-quality products for a variety of industries and are seeking skilled welders to join their expanding team.
What You’ll Do
As an Exhaust Welder, you’ll fabricate and weld custom automotive exhaust systems and related components. This role is ideal for someone with experience working with thin-gauge metals and precision fabrication.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate custom exhaust components using stainless steel, aluminized steel, and mild steel.
- Cut, roll, bend, and form sheet metal to required dimensions and specifications.
- Perform high-quality MIG and TIG welding on thin-gauge materials.
- Build collectors, mufflers, flanges, transitions, and custom exhaust assemblies.
- Read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, and technical layouts.
- Measure, mark, and assemble components for precise fit-up.
- Inspect finished welds for quality, strength, alignment, and leak prevention.
- Grind, polish, and finish welded assemblies as needed.
- Maintain fabrication tools, welding equipment, and a clean work area.
- Follow all safety procedures and quality standards.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in sheet metal fabrication and welding.
- Strong MIG welding skills; TIG welding experience is highly preferred.
- Experience working with stainless steel and other exhaust-grade materials.
- Ability to operate fabrication equipment such as brake presses, rollers, shears, plasma cutters, and grinders.
- Ability to read blueprints and use precision measuring tools.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS welding certification or equivalent.
- Experience with metal forming and layout development.
- Familiarity with purge welding stainless steel.
- Automotive or performance exhaust fabrication experience is a plus.
