Structural Engineer for Marine construction. Specifically Marine Docks.

Summary:
A Structural Engineer specializing in marine construction is responsible for the design, analysis, and oversight of dock structures, piers, bulkheads, seawalls, marinas, and other coastal infrastructure. This role requires a deep understanding of environmental forces (tidal, wave, corrosion), materials suitable for marine environments, and coastal permitting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and analyze marine structures including docks, piers, wharfs, and piling systems.
- Conduct structural load calculations, including wind, wave, tidal, seismic, and mooring loads.
- Prepare detailed construction drawings, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Collaborate with marine architects, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
- Perform site assessments and oversee field inspections during construction.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal marine and environmental regulations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (Master’s preferred for complex marine projects).
- Professional Engineer (PE) license – often required, particularly in coastal states.
- Experience with marine or waterfront structures.
- Proficiency in engineering software: AutoCAD, STAAD.Pro, RISA, SAP2000, etc.
- Knowledge of marine corrosion protection, pile foundation design, and coastal hydrodynamics.
- Familiarity with permitting processes: US Army Corps of Engineers, Coastal Management, etc.
