Job Description

What You’ll Do:

  • Serve as the primary leader of the Quality function, overseeing the effective execution of the Quality Management System (QMS) and maintaining compliance with ISO 9001 and AS9100D standards.
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of quality systems, including Material Review Board (MRB), Process Change Requests (PCR), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), visual inspection standards, control plans, SPC, traceability, and related processes.
  • Provide direct leadership to the Quality Engineer and Lab Supervisor; ensure their teams are achieving goals, adhering to procedures, and operating in alignment with organizational quality standards and business priorities.
  • Monitor department Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to compliance, throughput, customer satisfaction, and cost of quality; proactively implement corrective and preventive actions to address performance gaps.
  • Ensure that all internal quality processes are executed within required timeframes, including review and approval of in-process drawings, critical dimension sheets, visual inspection standards, receiving inspection, final inspection, and pre-shipment photo documentation.
  • Oversee and drive the MRB process, ensuring timely and accurate disposition of non-conforming material, coordinating cross-functional input to avoid delays or material backlog.
  • Lead structured root cause analysis and corrective action efforts for internal and external quality issues, applying tools such as 8D, fishbone diagrams, 5-why analysis, and Design of Experiments (DOE).
  • Serve as the primary contact for customer, supplier, and regulatory quality communications; respond to inquiries, complaints, or escalations and coordinate generation of Supplier Notification Requests (SNRs), Supplier Discrepancy Reports (SDRs), and responses to Supplier Corrective Action Notices (SCANs) and Requests (SCARs).
  • Ensure timely submission and accuracy of First Article Inspection (FAI) packages, substantiation documentation, PPAPs, and other quality deliverables per customer and regulatory expectations.
  • Guide the Quality team’s readiness for internal, customer, and external audits; oversee the internal audit program and ensure findings are addressed appropriately and promptly.
  • Review and approve Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) involving quality-related component or process changes.
  • Champion a culture of quality and continuous improvement throughout the organization by leading initiatives that reduce variation, eliminate waste, and enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Evaluate and recommend quality-focused technologies or process innovations that will enhance inspection, documentation, or compliance efforts.
  • Support supplier quality activities in collaboration with purchasing and engineering, including onboarding, qualification, and ongoing supplier performance management.
  • Represent the Quality function in cross-functional strategic initiatives and meetings, partnering closely with Operations, Engineering, Program Management, and Executive Leadership to align quality objectives with business goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What We Are Looking For:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, or related technical field.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing quality, ideally within precision machining.
  • 4+ years of quality leadership experience with proven ability to lead teams and manage systems.
  • 3+ years of experience in aerospace manufacturing under AS9100 compliance.
  • AS9100 Rev D Lead Auditor certification, or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Certified Manager of Quality/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE), or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • GD&T ASME Y14.5–2018 foundational certification, or ability to obtain within 3 months.
  • Certified Six Sigma Green Belt or higher (Black Belt, Master Black Belt), or ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Certification of 20/20 vision (with or without corrective lenses) required and must be maintained.

Even Better:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Certified Six Sigma Black Belt (CSSBB) or Certified Master Black Belt.
  • Advanced-level certification in GD&T per ASME Y14.5–2018, or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.
  • Certified Quality Auditor (CQA) and/or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE).
  • Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP) or demonstrated proficiency in SolidWorks.
