Job Description
Position Summary
The Senior Tax Associate is a key member of our tax team, responsible for preparing and reviewing complex tax returns, conducting research on tax issues, and advising clients on tax planning strategies. This individual will work closely with partners, managers, and staff, contributing to client engagements while mentoring junior team members.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, and trusts.
- Conduct tax research and provide technical support on complex tax issues.
- Analyze and interpret tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance and identify opportunities for clients.
- Assist in tax planning and consulting engagements, including entity structuring and transactional planning.
- Communicate directly with clients regarding tax issues, deadlines, and documentation needs.
- Supervise and mentor junior associates; review work for accuracy and provide training where needed.
- Maintain client confidentiality and manage sensitive financial information with integrity.
- Stay informed of current tax developments and changes in legislation that affect clients.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; Master’s in Taxation is a plus.
- CPA certification required or in active pursuit.
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant tax experience in public accounting.
- Strong technical knowledge of federal and state tax codes.
- Proficiency with tax software (e.g., ProSystem fx, GoSystem, UltraTax) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and a commitment to continuous learning.
