Our client is seeking a Staff Accountant II to join our accounting department, specializing in grants and contract billing, reporting, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the financial subject matter expert for specialty grants, contracts, and billable projects.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and year-end financial reports.
- Review grants, contracts, and budgets to ensure compliance with requirements.
- Develop and maintain billing standards to ensure accurate and timely invoicing.
- Provide audit support by reviewing, organizing, and submitting required documentation.
- Assist the Senior Accountant with special program budgets and SEFA (Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards) reporting.
- Reconcile assigned general ledger accounts for month-end and year-end close.
- Monitor grantor compliance and maintain organized electronic files for audits and billing support.
- Cross-train with team members and provide back-up for grant cash posting functions.
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve billing or reporting issues promptly.
- Communicate professionally with auditors, vendors, and state/federal agencies.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of accounting experience requiring analytical and detail-oriented work.
- Experience with grants, contracts, or contractual billing strongly preferred.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel and electronic voucher management systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify and resolve issues proactively.
