Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Surgery Scheduler to join our clients OB/GYN practice. This role is primarily responsible for coordinating and scheduling surgical procedures, with a focus on inductions and C-sections. The position also requires flexibility to support other administrative and patient-facing tasks once scheduling responsibilities are complete.

Key Responsibilities

  • Surgical Scheduling
    • Schedule inductions, C-sections, and other surgical procedures in collaboration with physicians, patients, and hospital staff.
    • Verify physician availability and hospital block times.
    • Ensure pre-op requirements, consents, and authorizations are in place prior to procedures.
    • Maintain and update surgical calendars and communicate changes promptly.
  • Patient Coordination
    • Educate patients on surgery dates, pre-op instructions, and follow-up requirements.
    • Serve as the liaison between patients, physicians, and surgical facilities.
    • Coordinate transportation and special needs when applicable.
  • Administrative Support
    • Provide cross-coverage in other office areas including front desk reception, appointment scheduling, medical records, or patient check-in/out.
    • Support clinical staff with administrative tasks as needed.
    • Maintain HIPAA compliance and confidentiality in all patient interactions.

Qualifications

  • Prior experience scheduling surgeries or procedures in a medical office setting (OB/GYN experience preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, particularly related to obstetrics and gynecology.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) and scheduling software.
  • Ability to multitask, adapt to shifting priorities, and support team needs across different functions.
