Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Flux-Core Welder (FCAW) to support the fabrication and assembly of structural components for a new crane. This position will work in a welding and fabrication shop environment, joining heavy-gauge steel components, ensuring structural integrity, and contributing to the safe and timely construction of the crane.

Key Responsibilities

Perform flux-core (FCAW) welding on heavy steel components used in crane construction.

Read, interpret, and work from blueprints, shop drawings, and weld symbols.

Fit, align, clamp, and tack-weld parts into proper position before final welding.

Execute multi-pass welds on thick structural steel following welding procedures and quality standards.

Operate fabrication equipment such as cutting torches, grinders, and overhead cranes/hoists.

Inspect welds for accuracy, defects, and compliance with project specifications.

Ensure proper weld preparation, including cleaning, beveling, and material handling.

Work closely with supervisors, fabricators, and quality control personnel to ensure precision and safety.

Follow all shop safety protocols, PPE requirements, and OSHA standards.

Maintain a clean and organized work area.

Qualifications

2+ years of flux-core (FCAW) welding experience, preferably in heavy steel or structural fabrication.

Ability to pass a flux-core welding test (various positions).

Experience welding large assemblies or heavy-equipment components preferred.

Strong knowledge of weld symbols, blueprints, and fabrication drawings.

Ability to safely operate overhead cranes, rigging equipment, and power tools.

Physical ability to lift 50+ lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in various positions.
