StaffSource was among 250 business leaders to represent the IT industry at the Tennessee Workforce Convening on April 22, 2024 in Nashville. The event was hosted by the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) in collaboration with the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development and the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development.
“I knew this was going to be an opportunity to share feedback from many of our partners with educators, but I was not expecting the level of leadership in the room,” said Brian Hayes, IT Business Development Manager, StaffSource.
Governor Bill Lee, TBR Chancellor Flora Tydings, and other elected leaders were in attendance to hear how the graduates of state colleges and agencies are meeting the needs of employers. At the conclusion of the event, a summary of themes and topics was reported to the panel.
Of note, the IT industry was overall pleased with the job that colleges are doing to prepare students for the workforce. A key theme of discussion for future development was helping prepare students’ soft skills and the professionalism that is expected in the workplace.
